10:45 p.m. | KSHB 41's Jeff Penner broke down what you can expect Tuesday in his weather blog.

7:10 p.m. | The National Weather Service reported 0.9" of snow had been recorded at the Kansas City International Airport as of 6 p.m. Monday.

As of 6 PM, there was 0.9" of snow so far today at Kansas City International Airport. In Pleasant Hill MO at 6 PM, there was 1.1" of snow so far today.

4:50 p.m. | Citing expected "adverse weather conditions," Blue Valley Schools will not be in session Tuesday.

Shortly after, the Gardner Edgerton School District, Shawnee Mission School District and Kansas City, Kansas, Public Schools all announced Tuesday closures.

4 p.m. | Kansas City, Missouri, says it is keeping city-owned parking garages open free of charge to allow cars to stay off the streets.

Here's what you need to know:

3:30 p.m. | Many area trash haulers are advising customers they might be delayed in picking up trash this week. In Kansas City, Missouri, that means trash collection will be delayed by one day.

3 p.m. | Several area courts and city governments have announced plans to close for Tuesday or hold hearings virtually. If you have a hearing scheduled for Tuesday, you'll want to check with the appropriate jurisdiction for updates.

2:20 p.m. | Western Kansas is experiencing blizzard conditions with nearly zero visibility, at times, as a result of the storm.

KanDrive

KanDrive shows the eastbound and westbound lanes of Interstate 70 between Hays and the Colorado state line are closed.

Snowfall totals have neared a foot in some areas.

KSHB 41 Weather

1:15 p.m. | The Kansas City, Missouri, Parks and Recreation Department will open the Gregg Klice, Line Creek and Southeast community centers from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday due to inclement weather. All others will be closed.

In Johnson County, Kansas, the parks and recreation department closed some trails and parks Monday due to "rapidly changing weather conditions."

12:30 p.m. | The National Weather Service has extended a winter storm warning to include Kansas City-area counties.

The winter weather warning was issued in Leavenworth, Wyandotte and Johnson counties in Kansas and Platte, Clay, Ray, Carroll, Chariton, Randolph and Jackson counties in Missouri until 6 p.m. Tuesday.

A winter storm warning had already been issued through 6 p.m. Tuesday in Atchison and Doniphan counties in Kansas and Nodaway, Worth, Gentry, Harrison, Holt, Andrew, DeKalb, Daviess, Grundy, Sullivan, Buchanan, Clinton, Caldwell, Livingston and Linn counties in Missouri.

Kansas City Scout cams show low visibility in Gardner.

11:30 a.m. | Snow is moving in across the Kansas City metro.

Further south, Kanas City Scout and the National Weather Service has confirmed snow around Interstate 35 and 175th Street as well as near I-435 and K-10.

Speaking of south, KSHB 41 Chief Meteorologist Mike Nicco said the storm's low looks to be shifting south, which would increase snow totals across the metro.

11 a.m. | The rain has arrived, and snow isn’t too far off.

KSHB 41 meteorologists Lindsey Anderson and Cassie Wilson break down the timeline of the storm.

Already, Ottawa, Kansas, has noted driving conditions are being impacted.

Around 10:30 a.m., Ottawa police reported two injury accidents on Interstate 35, six slide-offs on I-35 at U.S. 59 Highway and one slide-off inside city limits at 15th and Lincoln.
