Formed during their high school years in Scranton, Pa., Motionless in White initially cut their teeth in their local scene playing cover tunes. The sextet would eventually combine their influences and cook up a dark, melodic and brooding, style of songwriting that got them the attention of Fearless Records who eventually signed the young band. After releasing two EPs, in 2010 Motionless in White released 'Creatures,' their debut album. The band is currently out on the Fearless Friends Tour which also includes blessthefall, The Word Alive, Tonight Alive, and and Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! Motionless in White vocalist Chris Cerulli is the latest musician to take part in Noisecreep's 'Five Albums That Changed My Life' series.
'This Is Love, This Is Murderous,' Bleeding Through (2003)
I think by now, everyone that knows who I am, knows that Bleeding Through is my all-time favorite band. This record and the song 'Love Lost in a Hail of Gunfire' is massively responsible for who I am, what I am, and what I do today. I can never explain to you how much this band and Brandan's lyrics mean to me, I really can't. I'm just going to have to hope that whoever is reading this has that type of connection with a band to where you just know what I'm talking about without explanation."
'Hatful of Hollow,' The Smiths (1984)
"Morrissey is my favorite solo musician and The Smiths are my second favorite band. I love Morrissey's solo work but it's not as raw and emotional as his work with The Smiths, but that's because he doesn't have Johnny Marr by his side. Picture your life and all the thoughts and feelings you have about it. Now imagine someone who has never met you wrote a biography about it and have it more detailed and more personal than you yourself could have done. That's what Morrissey is to me. This record can turn me into an emotional train wreck at any given time."
'Obsession,' Eighteen Visions (2004)
"When I first started getting into hardcore, metalcore etc., Eighteen Visions was one of the first bands I heard that not only had something unique about their sound, but looked different and didn't give a f---. 'Obsession' was a huge record for me because it was one of the few that blended genres seamlessly, which was something I loved bands doing. When I write music I try to incorporate as many things as I can to give the songs a different feel. Eighteen Visions looked f---ing awesome and mixed hard rock with hardcore. It pushed me to not be afraid to think outside the box."
'Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death),' Marilyn Manson (2000)
"When I first saw Manson shred bibles on stage, I was hooked. I was never really religious growing up but I always had a ton of questions and a thirst for knowledge towards it. The more "answers" I was given the more I saw through it and realized how much bulls--- it is. When I found Marilyn Manson, it was a life changing event to say the least. I felt like in a world full of f*cking morons and hypocrites – finally someone made sense to me. This record has a lot of my favorite Manson songs on it, including my all-time favorite, 'The Nobodies.'"
'Static Age,' The Misfits (recorded 1978, released 1997)
"The Misfits are what I like to consider as the biggest "door opener" band in my life. Because of them, I was introduced to so many bands like AFI which then introduced me to The Cure and so on and so on. 'Static Age' is my favorite of theirs because of how many great songs are on it. The melodies that Glenn Danzig has on this record are so solid and in the rest of the punk I was listening to at the time, I wasn't hearing anything as good. The Misfits are responsible for so many bands you see out today and I feel like they are still extremely under-appreciated for that. I'm a fiend for life."
